One of the largest such facilities in Western Japan, this comprehensive museum on natural and human history attracts many visitors from outside Fukuoka Prefecture and Kyushu. This is a must-see museum for museum enthusiasts. Its extensive exhibits are overwhelming, and cannot be covered in a one-day visit.

Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art (Main Building ‧ Annex ‧ Riverwalk Gallery)
Time Required：100minutes
The main building in Tobata-ku is a famous early work of Arata Isozaki. He was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize (called the "Nobel prize of architecture"). The museum is also widely recognized as it is often used as a movie filming location. It houses about 7,500 works, including Yayoi Kusama and Basquiat. The Riverwalk Gallery is located in a commercial facility in Kokurakita-ku.

Enjoy the night view of the factories of Kitakyushu along with panoramic views of the Kanmon Strait nightscape and lights of the city center from the sea. During the cruise, each illumination you see may turn on a light in your heart.

Kokura Castle〜Kimono Rental Sightseeing

Kokura Castle keep has been restored and renovated, and transformed into an "entertainment castle museum" where visitors can feel and experience the history of Kokura with the new interiors and exhibits. Don't miss the experience of wearing a rental kimono and taking a walk in this castle town. In the summer season (from June), yukatas are also available. Enjoy sightseeing in a kimono for each season.

The best place for lunch after a visit to Kokura Castle is Tanga Ichiba Market. The market is full of Kokura specialties offered at reasonable prices, such as yakiudon noodles and daigakudon rice bowl dishes.

This museum exhibits the history and products of TOTO LTD., established in 1917. This corporate museum offers unique exhibits that cannot be seen anywhere else.
