As one of the largest museums of natural history and human history in Western Japan, the museum shows the journey of nature and humankind extending from the birth of the planet 4.6 billion years ago to present times on a magnificent scale. An array of imposing skeletal specimens of dinosaurs are exhibited, and with a moving diorama of dinosaurs, visitors can experience the Kitakyushu of prehistoric times. The museum also houses valuable historical materials, and visitors can learn about the transformation of human life. In addition, festival and parade floats from Kitakyushu's traditional summer festival are on display.
