Triceratops prorsus (Replica)

This herbivorous dinosaur lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous Period. As a ceratposian, it is one of the better known dinosaurs, along with Tyrannosaurus rex of the same period and the same region. It is characterized by the single horn on its nose, two horns on its eyes and a large frill extending from the back of its head. The scientific name of "Triceratops" means "three-horned face."
