Inoue Suo was one of the "24 Vassals of Kuroda" who served Kuroda Nagamasa, Lord of the Fukuoka Domain, and his father Kuroda Yoshitaka (Kuroda Kanbei). Inoue Suo later became Lord of Kurosaki Castle. At a samurai's home, weapons such as armor and swords used by the family ancestors were carefully handed down as family heirlooms. Weapons were used not only for protection, but also for decoration. The fine craftsmanship that was used to make weapons meant they were also valued as artworks.
